Obituary for Adolf Watek

Adolf Watek
It is with deep sorrow the family of Adolf Watek announce his passing on Monday, July 25, 2022, at the age of 88 years.

Adolf is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Trevor); grandchildren, Scott (Sierra) and Brad (Mackenna); good friend, Helen as well as numerous extended relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna; daughter, Joyce; his parents; and brothers, Stanley and Henry.

Adolf immigrated to Canada in the 1950s to join his dad and brothers. He came to Canada with only a few dollars in his pocket and the shirt on his back. He did not speak English but none the less worked hard to find a job and learn the Canadian culture.

He met the love of his life, Anna and soon after came his two daughters, Joyce and Teresa and later his beloved grandchildren, Scott and Brad. To say Adolf was selfless is an understatement; everything he did and worked so hard for was for his family.

Adolf was very active in the Polish Community. His working career was with PCL and EPSB where he met many lifelong friends. After retirement he volunteered for the Polish Combatant’s Association, Veteran’s Society, Senior Men’s Club and organized many social activities. Even though he is back home with God, the work he has done will resonate in the community for many years to come.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 11485 - 106 Street, Edmonton. Funeral mass will follow at 10 a.m. with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Donations in memoriam may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute or the Polish Veteran’s Society.
