Obituary for Donald Noon Poon

Donald Noon Poon
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Donald Noon Poon on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the age of 85 years.

Donald, known as "Donnie" or "Uncle Don" to friends and family, is reunited with his beloved wife of 42 years, Lynn. Left to mourn Don’s memory are his sons, Leslie (Celia) and Jason Poon; his cherished grandsons, Quentin and Spencer; brother, Sandy (Sophie); relatives in Canada and overseas, as well as friends.

Don was born on October 10, 1938 in Kai Ping, Guangdong, China. He moved to Canada when he was 12 years old and settled in Ryley, AB. He grew up in this small town before moving to Edmonton, AB, where he later owned and operated a family business with Lynn, who he married in 1968. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing hockey and loved to fish with his family in his spare time. After retirement from the business, they enjoyed traveling and visiting surrounding towns in Alberta.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Park Memorial, 9709 – 111 Avenue NW, Edmonton. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at Northern Lights Cemetery, 15203 Campbell Road NW, Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, his family would greatly appreciate a memorial donation made to a charity of your choice.
