Dr. Rafique M. Islam, DSC, PAG, AIA, AIC, CSSS, ASA, CSSA, SSSA, IUSS (Retired Public Servant) husband of Machiko (Nina) Islam returned to Allah on November 09, 2022.
Rafique was born on January 27, 1942.

When Rafique was a young child, the British decided to partition the province of Bengal in India into
Muslim and Hindu. In the resulting migration riots the family business was lost and Rafique father was
killed. Rafique mother struggled to feed her young children and moved them to safety in what is now
Bangladesh. Rafique won an international scholarship and earned his P.H.D. in the University of Hokkaido in Japan.

Dr. Rafique worked for the Government of Alberta under Peter Lougheed, Don Getty
and Ralph Klein as a senior Soil Scientist. He received several citations for outstanding public service.
He will be missed by family, friends, colleagues, and neighbours.

May Allah forgive his sins, accept his good deeds and enter him into Jannatul Firdaus.
