Ernest “Ernie” Howrish passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at the age of 81 years.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Monica, Trina (Todd), Michelle (Andrew) and Bob; grandchildren, Darian (Jack), Tanner, Jessie, Alicia and Matthew; brother, Ron; sister-in-law, Irene; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Ervin; and sister-in-law, Carole.

Ernie spent most of his teaching career as a principal for Edmonton Catholic Schools. He was a devoted grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. You could often find him watching Darian’s ringette and Tanner’s hockey.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Capital Care Dickinsfield. A special thank-you to the Chartwell Griesbach Retirement Residence Memory Care Unit for their compassion and care of Ernie.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton with interment in Edmonton Cemetery.

In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories.
