With deep sadness we announce the passing of Gaudenzio “Alex” Saccomanno on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the age of 88 years.

Alex leaves behind his wife, Maria; four children, Peter (Rosanna), Letizia (Sandro), Maurice (Corie) and Mike; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother, Don Sergio; sister, Sina (Pierino) in Italy; sisters-in-law, Maria (Magliocco), Maria (Arnieri), Toni (Frank) de Luca and Tina Maio in Edmonton; brother-in-law, Gino Maio in Edmonton; and many nieces and nephews in Edmonton and Italy.

He was predeceased by his parents, Maria and Giuseppe; siblings, Letizia, Frank and Maurizio in Edmonton and Matteo and Pietro in Italy; as well as parents-in-law, Agostino and Francesca; sisters-in-law, Stella and Michelina; nephew, Sergio in Italy; and brother-in-law, Serafino in Edmonton.

We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Fields and the staff of the Kipnes Centre for Veterans for their care and support to Alex and our family during the last three and a half years

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 7, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Santa Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church, 9110 – 110 Avenue, Edmonton. Reverend Father Roy Antony, CFIC officiating with interment to follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
