Obituary for Grant William Mackay

Grant William Mackay
Grant William MacKay of Fox Creek, Alberta passed away on November 20, 2022, at 71 years of age with his devoted wife Chrissie by his side.

Grant was born on July 13, 1951, in Inverness, Nova Scotia to Billy and Olive (Grant) MacKay. He grew up on the farm in Big Baddeck before moving to live with his beloved Aunt Jean to complete high school in North Sydney. After quickly realizing that post-secondary was not for him, Grant discovered his true calling of truck driving, a passion that he pursued for the remainder of his life.

Grant is predeceased by his parents and his younger brother Sandy (Debbie). He is survived by his wife Chrissie; children, Joe (Jody), Rob (Dawn), and Lloyd (Angela); grandchildren, Julia, Taylor, Sebastian, Dylan, Faith, Zarah, Hadlee; his loving sisters Ruth Ann (Mike), Heather (Gary), and Kathy (John) and his many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date where we can all take time to tell stories, laugh and remember.

It’s time to rest from the long open road. The rig is parked, the load is secured and the warmth of heading inside calls. Family and friends have been waiting. They call you over where they have a spot all ready for you. The hot coffee is poured and the never-ending conversations begin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, AB T6G 1Z2, 780-432-8500, albertacancer.ca/in-memory
