Helmut Florian Preissl
On Saturday, September 2, 2023, Mr. Helmut Florian Preissl of Mayerthorpe, AB, formerly of Revelstoke, BC, peacefully passed away at the age of 78 years.

Helmut leaves to mourn his loving wife of 53 years, Penny; son, David (Crystal) of Revelstoke; daughter, Traci of Rochfort Bridge, AB; granddaughter, Kelli of Stephenville, Texas; grandson, Hendrik of Revelstoke; sisters, Elfrieda Weninger of Kelowna, BC, Rose (Aaron) Archibald of Golden, BC; sisters-in-law, Helen of Kelowna, BC, Shirley of Rossland, BC; and many more dear relatives and friends.

Helmut is predeceased by his parents, Karl and Eleonore; brothers, Herb and Frank; and brother-in-law, Ron.

Thank you to the staff of Extendicare Mayerthorpe for the loving and compassionate care shown to Helmut and the family.

Helmut’s happiest times were spent with family, participating in all their favourite activities. He deeply loved his family and was proud of each of their individual accomplishments. Helmut’s passion was fly-fishing, and he enjoyed many other outdoor pursuits including skiing, raising Welsh ponies, horse shows and camping.

Helmut worked as a Conductor in Revelstoke, with the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), from 1971 until he retired in 2008. He and Penny then moved to Alberta where they lived near their daughter and granddaughter. Retirement provided many years where Helmut enjoyed creating more wonderful memories with his family, remaining involved with horses, and managing their rural property. Helmut will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Honouring Helmut’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held.
