Obituary for Leonard Arthur "Len" Mitchell

Leonard “Len” Arthur Mitchell passed away Monday, September 5, 2022, at the age of 69 years, after a two-year illness with Guillain-Barré Syndrome.

Len will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Christine and her brothers and sisters; his brothers, Don (Marilyn) and Bob; stepsister-in-law, Susan; and stepbrother, Jim (Jacquie); as well as numerous of nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his father, Irwin; mother, Jeanie; stepfather, Frank Shortried; sister, Peggy; and stepbrother, Art.

Len worked at the Manitoba School for the Deaf for 25 years as an administrator until he retired in 2017, before moving to Edmonton in 2018. He also served as president and vice-president of several organizations, including the Canadian Association of the Deaf, the Alberta Association of the Deaf, the Canadian Cultural Society of the Deaf and the World Federation of the Deaf.

Len was an actively devoted Christian at Calvary Temple of the Deaf. He was a great role model for youth and was involved in the Christian Deaf Summer Camp.
