Condolences

Condolence From: Cheryl Redhead
Condolence: Len was a very special man who impacted me in a deep way. As one of the CEOs of Connect Society, I would like to acknowledge Len and his many contributions to our organization. Len was instrumental in the set up and operations of Lauderdale House, Connect Society’s group home. He was a leader within the organization sharing his talents and insights with colleagues and stakeholders. Although Len moved on from Connect Society to have an illustrious career with impressive achievements, in his retirement, he returned to Connect Society to sit on our Board of Directors from 2018-2020. Len always wanted to give back and we benefitted greatly from his kindness and wisdom. He will be lovingly remembered and very much missed. Love to you Christine!

Condolence: Christine and family,

We wish to extend our sincere condolences and deep thoughts of you and your family.

Len was an amazing role model humble and inspiring global citizen who always cared about basic needs and rights of Deaf people nationally and globally. During the Gallaudet University, Canadian Association of the Deaf, World Federation of the Deaf, Canadian Hearing Society, and Canadian Cultural Society days, Len was best described as a gentle and harmless fighter, a big Teddy Bear with a lasting heart and smile; unbelievable humble, and always went out to assist and support for anything that any Deaf organization, and Deaf individuals have asked for nationally and globally. During his leadership as President of Canadian Club at Gallaudet University, President of Canadian Association of the Deaf, Vice-President, World Federation of the Deaf, Chair, Canadian Hearing Society Board, and acting President, Canadian Cultural Society of the Deaf, he made many and countless contributions for improving the lives of Deaf Canadians and global citizens and supporting the rights of all Deaf Canadians and global citizens who love his inspiring and positive energy, caring, and loving character. Len, thank you for all of your amazing and humble contributions on earth and salute you hand waving and we love you. We carry Len's legacy torch that will always be remembered. ILY

Condolence: No one travels through life without, at some point, experiencing the loss of someone or something dear. The loss of a loved one through death is one of life’s most intense challenges, and the pain can be overwhelming. But God doesn’t leave you to suffer alone. Find comfort in these verses from His Word …

1. “He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief” (Isaiah 53:4). Jesus, the greatest empathizer, understands what you are going through and will stay beside you.

2. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). The Lord will wrap His arms of love and comfort around those who trust in Him.

3. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3). Lean on God and allow Him to continue the process of healing your broken heart.

4. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble” (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4). Comforting you is God’s specialty.

5. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10). God promises to be with you and get you through this time of intense disappointment and loneliness.

6. “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4). Depend on His guidance to lead you out of that dark valley.

7. “I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 4:13, 14). As believers, we have hope of the resurrection promised by God.

8. “The trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. … So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory’ ” (1 Corinthians 15:52, 54). At Christ’s return, those who belong to Him will be raised and given life that will never end.

9. “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:4). In the New Earth that God has promised to create, He will permanently dry your tears.

Cling to the Lord and He will comfort you through the process of grieving and, in the future, will replace your sorrow with great, unending joy!
