Obituary for Maria Centrella
We are devastated to announce the passing of a beloved wife, mamma, nonna, bisnonna, sorella, zia and friend, Maria Centrella. She passed away on August 17, 2022, at the age of 75 years.
Maria will forever remain in the hearts of her husband, Ettore; children, Angela (Gino), Carmela and Domenico (Carla); grandchildren, Melissa (Hilary), Matthew, Anthony, Alessandro, Mauro, Sofia and Lino; precious great-granddaughter, Lucy; siblings, Antonio (Nunzia), Raffaella (Remo), Bruna (Giancarlo), Armando, Josephine (Carlo) and Carmela; as well as countless nieces, nephews and other extended family around the world.
She was predeceased by her parents, Rosina and Domenaico; sister, Ida; and brother-in-law, David.
Maria was the most caring, kind and selfless woman. We’ll miss hearing her beautiful voice singing along to her favourite Italian music while preparing large meals for our family to share. Those meals will never be forgotten. Maria was vivacious and magnetic with an infectious laugh. Her absence leaves us with a noticeable hole in our hearts and lives.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Maria’s amazing caregiver, Pat; her homecare caseworker, Anna; and her doctor, Dr. Harnelt for their compassion and care shown to her. We also wish to thank the Good Samaritan Society.
A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 8 p.m. at Santa Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church, 9110 - 110 Avenue, Edmonton.
Funeral Mass Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Santa Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church, with entombment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum. Donations in memoriam may be made to the Heart & Stroke foundation.
