Obituary for Olga Laskiwski (née Elkow)

Olga Laskiwski (née Elkow)
November 16, 1935 – June 27, 2022

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family announce the passing of Olga Laskiwski on Monday, June 27th, 86 years of age. Daughter Sharon (Jamiel Hamdon) shall forever cherish our journey of life together and your dedicated love and devotion as my precious mother. Our family, close friends, neighbors and Royal Bank employees will remember your loyalty, generosity, authenticity, committed work ethic, passions for cooking, gardening, planting flowers, camping in the motor home at various locations including Carson Pegasus Campground, supporting family gatherings to no avail, involvement with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and upholding Ukrainian traditions. We are all so proud of what you stood for and accomplished in your life. As your daughter, you are the best mother a daughter could ever possibly have, and I shall wait with open arms to see you in heaven. You touched the hearts of many and shall be fondly remembered.

Survived by sister, Josie Goroniuk, sisters-in-law Sylvia Chalmers and Alice (Alec) Wilson, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Emil Laskiwski, parents William (Bill) and Mary Elkow, brothers Johnny and Ed Elkow (Liz nee Koloda) and brother-in-law Nick Goroniuk. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the healthcare providers from Alberta Health Services Palliative Home Care, Dr. Weib from the Cross Cancer Institute and Dr. Vernon Chichak family physician who collectively helped to enhance and extend Olga’s life as long as possible given multiple health concerns overtime. The healthcare providers went above and beyond to provide exceptional care. Their compassion and sincere interest in the care and comfort for Olga was truly gratifying and appreciated.
