February 29, 1932 - December 29, 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Patricia Joan “Pat” Babet (née Baxter) on December 29, 2022, at the age of 90 years. She was a wonderful and smart lady who will never be forgotten.

Pat was predeceased by her husband, Andre Babet (2006) and parents, David and Mary Baxter. She is survived by her niece, Coral Babet.

Pat was the Department Head at Provincial Labs and worked as a lab tech in microbiology for many years. She made many lifelong friendships with wonderful people. Pat especially appreciated the friendship of George and Helen Durupt, who were very supportive, helpful and caring throughout her life. Even after retirement, the ladies from the lab would often meet for lunches and visits. She cherished the time spent with Helen, Joan, Nan and Jeannie. Joan G. remembers all the great times the ladies had together. Gloria used to work with Pat and she appreciated her brilliance, and how she always spoke her mind and said what needed to be said.

Pat’s niece, Coral, was a part of her life since she was a little girl and was happy to move to Edmonton five years ago to help care for her in her final years.

Thank you to the staff at Ashbourne Assisted Living, Good Samaritan and St. Joseph’s Auxiliary Hospital for the kind care provided to Pat.

Pat will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to a Graveside Service on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery (Section 4, 14615 Mark Messier Trail NW, Edmonton, AB T6V 1H4) where Pat will be laid to rest with her husband, Andre. Young Miss Patricia Baxter and Mr. Andre Babet met in Edmonton at a dance school in 1961- fell in love and married on June 2, 1962. They spent 44 years of wedded bliss together until Andre passed in December 2006. They will finally be reunited on their anniversary, after so long apart and have found peace.
