Obituary for Paul Lucyk

Paul Lucyk
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Paul Lucyk on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the age of 86 years.

Paul was a kind and caring old soul. He never had a bad word for anyone and will be remembered for his compassion and devotion to family. He made many fond memories going to his sister Elizabeth’s place for visits and frequently visited his parents when they were in long term care. He was not a bigger talker, but what he did say mattered. When he felt like he didn’t want to socialise anymore, he would let you know.

Paul enjoyed his work as a painter for numerous years and made a good friend. He and his friend enjoyed going out for meals and playing cards. Once retired, he joined a senior’s social club. The club put on bingos, crib tournaments and field trips. When he played crib or bingo, he had a bag full of quarters- one quarter for every win. Some of the field trips were just day trips and other times they were for a couple of days, either way he was always looking forward to them. He was a big walker, before it was popular. When he lived at home with his parents, he loved going on walks in the neighbourhood; as well as later, when he and his mother lived in the senior’s apartment building.

He had a mind like a steel trap when it came to music and sports teams like the Edmonton Oilers and the Edmonton Elks. He also appreciated various types of music and belonged to a choir group, which gave him immense joy. He was good at telling classic jokes from shows that he saw when he was younger. He loved Jack Benny and Ed Sullivan. Paul could also speak, write, and read in Ukrainian.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 7, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton with interment in St. Anthony Cemetery.
