March 9, 1957 – February 14, 2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Peter Anthony Desjarlais on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the age of 65 years.

Peter was born on March 9, 1957. He enjoyed riding his bike and being active, as well as reading and writing, and he loved both listening to and playing music. Peter was known for his good advice and for always being present for his family throughout the good times and the bad. He was very easy going and had a good sense of humour and always knew how to put a smile on your face. Peter will be forever cherished in our hearts.

Peter is survived by his children, Alice Roy, Sarah Pahtayken-Desjarlais, Sonya Desjarlais-Pahtayken, Sonny James Patrick Desjarlais-Pahtayken, and Gage Tweed; siblings, Brenda, Patti, Wanda, Bruce, Sandra, and Debra; Carmella Pahtayken and mother-in-law, Malvina Hitman; extended family members, Billy Paul, Joseph Pahtayken, Kyla Ermineskin, and Donald Ermineskin; John Omeosoo, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Sarah and James; brothers, Brian and James; as well as family members Stewart Hitman, his son, Andre Pahtayken and son, Jason.

A wake will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 9 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church of the First Peoples, 10821 - 96 Street, Edmonton. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 24, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church of the First Peoples, officiated by Reverend Mark Blom, OMI. Cremation has been entrusted to Park Memorial.
