Obituary for Phyllis Marudiak

Phyllis Marudiak
March 24, 1921 – July 8, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phyllis “Filia” Marudiak.

Born in the coal mining community of Pocahontas, Phyllis was raised on a homestead near Newbrook and then moved to Edmonton where she worked and lived for most of her life.

Phyllis was known for wearing high heels in the henhouse, her perogies and lemon meringue pie, her love of driving her Thunderbird, her generous spirit and care for others, and for her fierce determination and strength.

Phyllis’ life is being celebrated by her children, Orville (Shirly), Arlene (David), and Verilyn (Gerry); grandchildren, Alison, Kyle (Natasha), and Ben; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Paige, and Jared; her youngest brother, Nick; sister-in-law, Gladys; as well as the many other family and friends whose lives she touched over the years. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

Funeral Service Thursday, July 14, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton. Bonnie Marchand officiating with interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
