Obituary for Romeo Arsenault

Romeo Arsenault
March 24, 1933 – March 8, 2023

It is with profound sadness we announce that Romeo Arsenault of Edmonton, Alberta passed away peacefully at the age of 89 years with his family by his side.

Romeo was born on March 24, 1933 in Henribourg, Saskatchewan.

Romeo was a devoted husband, married to Therese for 62 loving years. He was also a father to three daughters: Desiree (Bob), Pauline (Alan), and Paulette (Les) and a loving “Papa” to: Nicole (Brett), Stephen, Allison (Mike), Mackenzie and Neil. Romeo also leaves to mourn his sisters, Lillian O'Brien and Lucille Cowie, brother Lionel (Irene) Arsenault, and sister-in-law Alice, as well as many wonderful relatives and friends.

Romeo was predeceased by his parents Yvonne and Wilfred Arsenault, brother Roland Arsenault, brothers-in-law Ed Cowie and Jack O'Brien.

Romeo had the opportunity to work at various companies prior to his retirement from Lafarge Canada in 1988 at the age of 54. He often boasted that he was retired longer than he worked!

Romeo loved his sports, but baseball was his passion. He spoke fondly of coaching the little league baseball team in Exshaw. He played on several men's teams throughout his years.

You would often find Romeo with family and friends playing cards, playing pool, bowling, curling, and golfing. He thoroughly enjoyed a competitive game of horseshoes, often a winner in many tournaments. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.

All who knew Romeo remember him as a gentleman; a kind, honest, happy, caring and loving man. He had a laugh that was contagious. Romeo will be forever in our hearts, missed by many and never forgotten.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to everyone who helped us during this very difficult time.

Honouring Romeo's wishes, there will be no service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Romeo's name to the Cross Cancer Institute.
