Obituary for Rose "Baba" Lukasewich

Rose "Baba" Lukasewich
It is with great sadness that the family of Rose Lukasewich “Baba” announce her peaceful passing on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the age of 92, in the Lamont Nursing Home.

Baba Rose was passionate about flower gardening, as seen by all who would visit her home to be surrounded by rose gardens, colours and flowers of many varieties.

She also loved to travel. Just some of the places she travelled to abroad were Hawaii; Pasadena California, to attend the Rose Bowl Festival; the World’s Fair in Seattle; and Disneyland, just to name a few.
Baba Rose was an avid bowler and spent many years in league play at the Bonnie Doon bowling alley. She also loved to dance, polkas and waltzes being her favourites.

Many fond memories we have of Baba Rose were the days spent at Lake Isle, fishing and cruising in the boat that our Gido had built with his own hands.

Baba Rose always looked forward to preparing family dinners, especially at Christmas every year. Always to be sure that each family member had their favourite dish prepared for them, with love.

Rose was predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years, Stanley; and her son, Theodore “Ted”; parents, Paul and Katie Holowaychuk; sister, Olga; and brothers, Steve, Harry, Joe, Peter, Paul, and Mike.

She is survived by her two sons, Patrick (Linda) of Edmonton and Lawrence (Lori) of Calgary; daughter-in-law, Sandra Lukasewich of Edmonton; grandchildren, Laura (Brian) Lowrie of Ardrossan, Jerry (Rachelle) Lukasewich of Beaumont, Megan (Adam) Capjack of Edmonton, Leslie (Gavin) Flett of Edmonton, Carl, Micah and Noel Lukasewich; great-grandchildren, Travis (Shannon) Storvold of Fruitvale, BC, Mitchell Lukasewich of Edmonton, Elizabeth Lukasewich of Beaumont, Sophia and Oliver Lukasewich-Capjack, and Remi Flett; great-great granddaughters, Marcey and Isabella Rose Storvold; sister, Tillie Eleniuk of Edmonton; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Our family will be forever grateful for the compassion, care and comfort Baba Rose was given by the nursing staff while living at the Lamont Nursing Home.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 - 111 Avenue, Edmonton with interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery, 13819 - 82 Street NW, Edmonton.
