Shirley Matan (nee Kimenius), 77, of Edmonton, passed away on May 11, 2023, unexpectedly but peacefully in her sleep at home.

Born to Alexander Kimenius and Mary Kimenius (nee Musick) on March 14, 1946, in Edmonton, AB. Shirley was married to Henry Matan, who predeceased her in 1993, and is survived by her son, Sterling. After working in retail management for many years, Shirley devoted her retirement to her appreciation of life and animals.

Shirley was an avid horticulturalist who was rightfully proud of her ability to foster growth in her gardens and greenhouses. She passed her appreciation of life and beauty to her family, friends, and all others whose lives were touched by her kindness. Much like her beloved flowerbeds at end of season, our hearts are laid low now in sorrow with her passing.

In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated. In lieu of sending flowers or other such gestures, a donation to breast cancer research or to assistance programs and shelters for the less fortunate would be a welcome tribute on her behalf.
