Condolences

Condolence From: Gail Maher (Severson)
Condolence: I thought of Walter many times over the last 52 years but we never got together after high school. Walter was a neighbour in Athlone growing up and he always was the desk behind me in homeroom during our high school years at Queen Elizabeth Composite. We could tell each other anything. Loved his sense of humor. Rest in peace dear old friend.

Condolence From: Bruce Audley
Condolence: Through our life's journey, we are often visited by those that touch our life for a time and then continue on their way. I walked with Walter almost half a century ago when we worked together at Jason Goldsmiths. This well known Edmonton jeweller became a mentor to dozens of us that fanned out into the North American jewellery industry to cement our own places in history. Walter was always designed to have his own retail jewellery business while I continue to this day involved in the wholesale side of our trade.

I liked to refer to Walter's sense of humour as Nuvo-Chic, the kind of acerbic wit that was usually packed with double entendre. Often I would find myself smiling days later in the recall of something he had said after one of our visits.

Time took us in different directions but in my mind's eye, Walter and I are still those two young kids kicking around and having fun playing with baubles, bangles and beads. Fly high in your new journey old friend.
