Obituary for Darrel George Ross Boles

Darrel George Ross Boles
Edmonton-based architect Darrel Boles passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, following a valiant battle with ALS and cancer.

Darrel was a creative, artistic, handy, protective, caring, gentle and thoughtful person. He taught his siblings, children and grandchildren to think outside the box, work hard and be kind. His loves included hockey, cars, animals, design, the Hamilton Tiger Cats and most importantly, his family and friends. As Darrel told his grandson after his diagnosis “It’s ok to be sad. You take that sadness and put it in your pocket so that it’s with you, but you can go on.” Darrel, you will forever be in our pockets and our hearts.

Darrel is survived by his wife, Christine Boles of Edmonton; daughter, Jamie (Paul and children) Naicken of Edmonton; son, Andrew (grandson, Dylan) Boles of Edmonton; brother, Kim (Beverlee) Boles of Ottawa; and sister, Marilee Boles-Wilson (Kevin and children, Liz, Dan and Evelyn) of Ottawa.

He was predeceased by his father, Allison Boles; and mother, Jean Boles (née Jones).

The family would like to thank the ALS Society, Palliative Care (AHS), EMS and CRTS.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ALS Society of Alberta or Sport Central Edmonton.
