Thought of Bob

Jay and I were young and just engaged when Jay introduced me - meeting Bob meant meeting Gary and they were like the tag team of comedy, especially while teasing their mother.  Bob stayed in Edmonton and we began to socialize more. We once spent an evening at his apartment and he was so sheepish about hosting us. His kitchen was empty but he found some teabags in the cupboard. There was nothing to make it in, nor to serve but we were quite entertained just by the bachelor apt jokes anyway.  While I worked at the University of Alberta for many years, I would see and chat with Bob in the Student Union Building. One winter, he kindly offered the driveway of his home in Windsor Park for my use during a very cold spell, just so I wouldn't have to wait for the bus.   I was so grateful for that, even if not everyone in the house thought it was a good idea!  My van was a little old and beat up....Over the years,  Bob would give me a call now and then, to catch up and sometimes to ask for favours if his mother needed something. I learned it was better to let Bob call me, he wasn't always in the mood to chat. As time went by, the calls became fewer, and we lost touch, as did so many of his family.  I have sweet memories of him, and pray for peace in his mind and soul now that he has gone to rest. My condolences to all of his brothers and families.
