September 20, 1936 – April 12, 2023

It is with much love and fond memories that the family of Flora Ward announce her passing on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the age of 86 years.

Flora was predeceased by husband, Jim Ward; son, Timothy Poulin; and parents, Raymond and Lena Highbaugh.

She will be forever remembered, loved and missed by her children, Deb (Chris) Mardel, Kathy (Wade) Macleod and Lorie Stauffer; grandchildren Dale, Clayton (Talisa), Colin (Eloise), Corey (Isabel) and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Austin and Brooke; and siblings, Armond (Alice) Highbaugh and Marjie (Albert) Ernst.

Flora, known to many as Flo, was born in Barrhead, Alberta with her brother Armond and sister Marjie. Flo later moved to Edmonton, where she spent the most of her life, had four children and met her husband, Jim.

Flo loved spending her winters with Jim, traveling south to warmer locations such as Las Vegas, Nevada and Yuma, Arizona. During the summer she loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren boating, fishing, and sitting around the campfire at their Alberta Beach cabin. She also loved to dance, listen to music, read, garden, spend time with her grandchildren, see friends at the Drake and volunteer her time at the church. As Flo got older and could no no-longer make regular trips over the winter to warmth down south, she moved to the warmer winter climate of Courtenay, BC where she continued her love of gardening, camping, and summer activities with her family. While living in Courtenay, Flo continued to take the occasional trip to Las Vegas and Kentucky, where she was able to see her extended families. Flora lived a very full and long life and most important of all, Flora was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Flo truly loved life and all of the special people she had in hers.

Family and friends may meet Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 10:45 a.m. at Park Memorial, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton before proceeding to St. Michael’s Cemetery. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Cemetery, 13819 - 82 Street NW, Edmonton, AB.
