It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, Maria Dos Ramos Pires Correia Gago, on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at the age of 85 years.

She leaves to mourn her daughters, Natalia (Joseph) Esteves, Maria Joao, and Claudie (John) Da Fonseca; grandchildren, Richard (Clotilde) Carreiro, Melanie (Derek) Chester, Jeffery (Shallen) Esteves, Natasha Da Fonseca and Phillip Esteves; her beautiful great-grandchildren, Logan, Hudson and Madelyn Chester, Jelson Esteves, and Victor and Selina Carreiro. She will be dearly missed by many friends and family in Canada, France and Portugal.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joao Gago; as well as her parents and brothers.

Mom cherished her family dearly and provided constant support to us all. She was an extremely forgiving and sociable person and enjoyed telling us stories about her life. She shared her wealth of knowledge selflessly to anyone and all who needed help.

Mom had many creative ideas and was a talented seamstress, knitter, crocheter and a fabulous cook. She had a great passion for her dogs, birds and plants which she cared for with all her heart. She also loved watching her Portuguese telenovelas and the news, as it was important to her to know what was going on in the world. While retired in Portugal, she awaited summer holidays when we would visit so she could shower us with our favourite foods and sweets. During this time, she would eagerly join us for outings.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all who have reached out during this difficult time. A heartfelt thank you also goes out to the homecare services and the entire team involved in mom’s exceptional care.

Funeral Service Friday, July 29, 2022, at 6 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton.
