On February 24, 2023, Martin James “Marty” Des Champ of Mayerthorpe, AB, peacefully passed away at the age of 82 years.

Marty leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 30 years, Margaret; children, Holly (Brad) Melnyk, Robert (Cheryl Lazowski) Scherer, Judy (Erwin) Schatz, Norm (Sally) Scherer, Laurie (Ralph Wiseman) Loney and Ken Scherer; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother, George (Barb); sisters, Jeanette and Jessie; and many more dear relatives and friends.

Marty was predeceased by his daughter, Terry (2021); parents, William and Catherine; brothers, Lou (Judy) and Bill (Helen); and brothers-in-law, Fred and Andy.

Thank you to the doctors and staff of the Mayerthorpe Healthcare Centre and the U of A Hospital, Unit 3E3 for the care and support shown to Martin and the family.

A Celebration of Martin’s Life will be held Friday, March 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 196, 4823 - 50 Street, Evansburg, AB with Jeff Feldberg officiating.
