November 11, 1921 - February 18, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Swystun on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the age of 101.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Stephie; children, Stephen (Peggy), Donald (Kerrie) and Catherine (Ron); grandchildren, Alexander (Samantha) Damphouse, Julia Damphouse, Melanie Damphouse and Annabelle Penney; as well as many relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Vasyl and Ann; as well as sisters, Katie, Myrona and Ustena; and brothers, Walter and Stephen.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and contributor to Edmonton’s Ukrainian community. Mike was a founder of several local businesses, including Orbit. He conducted many Ukrainian choirs, such as the St. Nicholas Church choir and the esteemed Kashtany choir. His musical legacy will live on long after his passing.

A Divine Liturgy will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 12 p.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 9507 Austin O'Brien Road, Edmonton. Reverend Julian Bilyj officiating with interment to follow at St. Michael's Cemetery.
