Obituary for Sophie Bielech

Sophie Bielech
June 17, 1931 – February 4, 2023

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Sophie Bielech of Edmonton on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the age of 91.

Sophie was predeceased by her husband, John. She is survived by her two daughters, Karen Bielech and Darlene Strang (Rob Cote); three granddaughters, Diane Strang (Tyson Lush), Kasandra Price and Laaryssa Nicols; step grandson, Alex Cote (Mila); step great-grandson, Adrian Cote. She also leaves two brothers, Nestor Urban (Valentina) and John Urban; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Sophie’s kind and nurturing spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. Her love for her family was immeasurable and her presence in our lives was a constant source of comfort. The most important thing in her life was being “Baba” and spending time with her family. She will be lovingly remembered and missed.

Our sincere thanks to the staff at the General Hospital (5AB) for their compassion and care for Mom.

A Funeral Rite will be held Friday, February 17, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 10951 – 107 Street, Edmonton with interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
