Wai Chee "Jimmy"  Wong
It is with great sadness that the family of Wai Chee “Jimmy” Wong announce his passing on March 8, 2023, at the age of 90 years.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 75 years, Mon Ha; his four children, Wing Wood (Mei Kuen Tang), Wing Yee (Su Li Ma), Wing Chui (Catherine Ho), and Shirley (Cliff Reimer); eight grandchildren, Lucy (Roy Mah), William (Florence Cheng), Kristina (Danny Taylor), Darren, Sonia, Jacqueline, Hailey, and Serena; along with his six great-grandchildren, Hayden, Kylie, Jacob, Caleb, Emerson and Jaxon.

Wai Chee was born on December 12, 1932, in Toisan, China. He strongly believed in the benefits and power of Chinese medicine and worked as an herbalist in China. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 to create a better life for his family. Throughout the years, he opened many restaurants - the most notable was his pride and joy, ‘The Zodiac’.

He was very social, with an easy-going nature, and had a smile for everyone. He had many friends and maintained friendships throughout Canada, the United States, Hong Kong, and China. A skilled musician, he played the violin, Chinese flute, and Erhu, exhibiting his talents as a member of the Cantonese Opera Association.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 20, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton. Cremation has been entrusted to Park Memorial. To view a livestream of the service, please visit www.parkmemorial.com and select “Webcasting” from Wai Chee’s Book of Memories.
